Raised in Delhi,Varun Bahl is a former student of NIFT and then took over his family's export business and has come a long way in the fashion facade since his debut launch at fashion week in 2001. The designer has made a distinctive mark in the industry for simply making the most coveted couture that has a vintage essence yet has a modern feel. Many brides admire the intricacy of work that is prominent in his signature styles that are a perfect match for the deeply rooted woman. 1. What are key influences that lie in every collection made by you? I am highly inspired and influenced by nature, especially with flowers in general. You will see them in some form or the other in all my collections, always. 2. It has been over a decade that you have been in the industry. What have you learnt over the years? I have learnt a lot in the last 13 years as a designer and as a human being. I have evolved and experimented with my collections from time to time. I am very happy that I am a part of this evolving industry where everything is so captivating. 3. What does the Varun Bahl bride embody? She is young, confident and does not wear something that does not suit her personality. She has to be individualistic and elegant in her choices.

4. Your collections uniquely marry traditional & modern sensibilities. What is your take on it? That comes very naturally to me, hence it is become a continuous part of my collection. Striking a balance between traditional and modern sensibilities is what I constantly seek in my style. 5. Couture is restricted to occasions while pret is for everyday wear. Tell us the difference you are bringing about between the two? Couture is misunderstood in India, and is only associated with bridal and occasion wear. For me a pair of trousers and jacket can also be couture. Many designers have ventured out into making day couture which is a ultimately a matter of choice and how you want to perceive it. 6. What is your most memorable collection utill date and why? Every collection is equally memorable but if I had to choose, it would have to be my very first collection. And every one after that! 7. Tell us about your association with Aza. It has been a long journey with Aza and I have been associated with them since day one. It has been 10 years since and it has always been a great place to be a part of, because they have grown extensively over the years. They have progressed immensely with multiple stores which always has something for everyone.
