Soft Spot – Velvet

Velvet will forever have a soft spot in our wardrobe (pun intended.) and so far we have restricted this luxe material to special occasions and rightly so. But its time to shake things up and no, velvet shall not be limited only to the colder times but is being preferred during the non fall-winter season alike. The fabric has made a royal comeback and with a bang (Check Paris Fashion Week 2019 Runway report) and we are going to smoothly get on with the trend and own it. Read along to find out how you can don this rich fabric like a diva.

Dress Up - A velvet dress or a midi is the sure-shot way to make heads turn and why not? Just look at these lovely pieces!  The best part about this trend is that you can be creative with the silhouettes, for example - a long off-shoulder gown by Namrata Joshipura or the sultry burnt orange number by Deme by Gabriela or this short street style dress by MxS. Pick your choose and get ready to roll.

Pants Down - This is hands down the trendiest of the ways you could sport velvet. It is chic, classy and can be worn anytime - anywhere. You could opt for the cowl pants by Pallavi Mohan, or the velvet suit with fancy sleeves by Siddartha Tytler or the much summer friendly two piece suit by Masala Chai.

Drape it -  We are no strangers to a velvet saree, and we must say it looks regal AF no matter what occasion. Give the boring silhouette a quirky twist like this Diya Rajvvir draped Jumpsuit or the Manish Malhotra Ombre Saree (the off shoulder blouse makes for the perfect summer element). In case you plan on keeping it classic, this Ri- Ritu Kumar saree is surely the winner.

Lehenga chronicles - The classic Indian outfit has never looked better with this beautiful soft-to-touch fabric and we have to agree. A Bollywood favorite for as long as we can remember, velvet is going to be your BFF for this season. You can go H2T like the Poshpride lehenga or the Black lehenga by Ri-Ritu Kumar or add just the right amount of velvet for the imperial touch like this Shasha Gaba Lehenga.

Velvet equals Macho - Men can partake in this trend bandwagon rather smoothly. The trend can be incorporated in almost any outfit - like this dapper velvet jacket by SS Homme or the debonair bandgala jacket by Komal Sood or this steaming number by Siddhartha Tytler. These looks are sure to get the temperature rising if you ask us *winks*
