Outfit styling 101
Style your kurtas with lehengas
We all have chic kurtas and at least one lehenga in our closet. Do you fathom where we are going with this? Style them together for a contemporary kurta-lehenga look that our favourite bloggers and celebrities are seen sporting now more than ever. Maintain a colour palette, or opt for contrasting shades for the pieces.Statement jewel-tone dupattas with kurta sets.
This summer heat calls for some comfortable clothing. If you are a pro-kurta person (or just slacking off with dress-up, just like us), beat the temperature with a timeless white kurta set and pair it with a piquant jewel-tone dupatta. Opt for a phulkari, banarasi, bandhani dupatta, whichever suits your interest. This is one of the simplest Eid looks that is meant for a girl-next-door who prefers the minimalism trend.Drape a saree over dhoti pants
Do you have dhoti or harem pants that have been sitting around in your wardrobe for quite some time? It's time for them to see the light of the day. Drape any saree of your choice by substituting your petticoat for the pants to nail the chic, modern look.Pair your minimal crop-top with lehenga or saree
Crop-tops have been our most-cherished item in our closets, but, just to add some spark to your look, we suggest styling them with your printed lehengas or sarees. The look will be equal parts modern and traditional, and that's just what we are aiming for. We prefer a basic white, black or gold crop-top that goes everything.Wear your saree as a lehenga
Who are we? Millennials! What are we stereotyped as? Using anything but for their usual purpose. But hey, in our defence, we are just being creative. Wear a bold coloured saree as a dupatta, or even as a lehenga with some neat tucking, and make your own stylish outfit. Are our moms proud of us yet?
Jewellery options 101
Statement contrast earrings and chandbaalis
We have always waxed poetic about traditional chandbaalis in many of our previous blogs. The quintessential jewellery item must belong in every woman's bijoux box. Opt for a pairof contrasting enamel earrings which will stand out with the whole ethnic-meets-modern vibe.
Eye-catching maangtikkas
If you're not a big a fan of heavy-duty jewellery, stick to a mangtikka that accentuates the look like a nothing else. Plus, they won't be in your way, either. If you have a couple of them, here are some tips on choosing the best one for your face shape, here.
Traditional chokers
Gone are the times where we went in concentric circles in deciding a necklace. Give your trusted pendant necklaces a backseat and opt for chokers instead. With a fair display of collar bones, these gems (quite literally) accentuate our best features.
Beauty 101
Dewy makeup with a wing eyeliner
Arti Nayar, a highly-demanded Bollywood makeup artist, has quite a few tips in store for us. Recreate this perfect eye makeup look with a simple tutorial by the artist here. Just like Sonam Kapoor, keep your makeup dewy and fresh, with minimal usage of blushes and contouring (no matter what the other tutorials say) and wear your perfect nude lipstick.
Pretty braids over hair buns
Romantic braids are our ever-favourites when it comes to hairstyles. There is a gamut of options for us here as well. Soft cornrows, crown braids, fishtails are some of our best-loved hairstyles. So, let down your hair (literally) and have some fun with it. Stay away from the curling iron and let the braids weave their magic for some naturally wavy hair that you are looking for.
DIY at-home highlights
If you wish to do something to simply open out your best features, give yourself a DIY hair highlight session at home. It instantly makes your face looks glowy and fixates the gaze on the best features. The key to nailing your perfect colour for the highlight is to choose a shade which is two shades lighter than your original hair colour. But be careful and avoid going overboard as you don't want to look 'woke', as these Gen Y kids call it nowadays. Do you have more styling tips for Eid?
