The world is going in a frenzy decoding the Oscar looks. While the Academy Award is all the validation that an actor needs to prove his talent, the red-carpet looks cannot be taken lightly, either. While the Internet is raving with reviews about the sartorial choices of these fine actors, we went a step further and imagined these Hollywood stars wearing our favourite Indian designers.
Here are all the looks we think could made it to the Oscar red carpet.
Margot Robbie
Much like her character from her movie Birds of Prey, this black gown by Chanel is equal parts glamorous and gothic. We can totally see her wearing this black lace dress with net trail by Siddhartha Tytler.
Scarlett Johansson
Not only does Scarlett manage to look flawless in all her movies (we aren't just over Black Widow yet) but also in all her award show looks. Need proof? This silver body-hugging Oscar De La Renta piece is making us love bling; so does this Pankaj and Nidhi gown, which, we think will look wonderful on her.
Natalie Portman
An Oscar-winning actress herself, Natalie Portman is all about strong-is-beautiful in this gold embroidered Dior gown, which came with a cape that had names of all the female directors who were worthy of a nomination but were snubbed (ahem, patriarchy). A powerful, no-nonsense attitude, right? So, we suggest this embellished jacket-suit by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna that we think suits her personality perfectly.
Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot experiments with extreme femininity in this black and pink Givenchy gown, with oodles of delicate lace and tulle. While that may seem like a pleasant surprise for an army veteran, we are loving this look on her. We think she'll nail this Gauri and Nainika piece just as well, don't you think?
Penelope Cruz
Penelope Cruz elevates our love for less-is-more in this black halterneck Chanel gown. While that may enhance her gorgeous Hispanic features, imagine how this sequined black lehenga-moonlighting-as-gown outfit by SVA will look on her.
Salma Hayek
We could sit for ages and look for any red-carpet look of Salma Hayek and turn up empty-handed for any faux-pas. We also know that this time there's a one-shoulder white Gucci gown in question, so there's no scope for one in the first place. We can totally see her wearing this Gaurav Gupta outfit for her next red carpet appearance, though.
Sandra Oh
We are not used to seeing Cristina, oops, we mean Sandra (back-to-back Grey's Anatomy sessions, you see) in anything else other than a white coat. Hence, this flamboyant beige Elie Saab gown comes as a shocker (we think it's the excessive sequins and ruffles). If she can pull of THAT, then she can very well ace this Amit GT gown with equal amount of drama.
Charlize Theron
There's literally no outfit that Charlize Theron can't rock. Period! Proving to be the perfect face of Dior's perfume, J'adore, we can proudly state that she wears the brand like her own. Who better to wear this Gaurav Gupta outfit for a stunning soiree than Charlize?
Renee Zellweger
Taking our unhealthy obsession with sequins a notch higher, (thank you, Manish Malhotra), Renée wears this silver one-shoulder gown that we see as a perfect complementary outfit to this high-on-bling sequined gown by Rahul Mishra.
Billie Eilish
Nobody does kitsch like Billie Eilish. The Grammy Award winner gives us inspiration to own our personal style in this white Chanel jacket and pant set. Well, who better than Manish Arora to fill in this position?
Camila Morrone
Bridal gowns on the red-carpet? Why not? Camila Morrone gave us some major stylespiration to give a glimpse of dreamy weddings at award shows. We totally imagine her wearing this white Shriya Som gown with tiers for yet another stunning look.
Rooney Mara
Rooney Mara, best-known for her role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (which also made us want that tattoo), is all about gothic-femininity. We are focusing on this black Alexander McQueen gown, with net and ruffles, that made us reach out for the stunning dark ochre and black dress by Kartikeya, for her, of course.
Brie Larson
Brie Larson sure knows how to sport the thigh-high slit, making her our new Angelina Jolie. This pastel pink, heavily embellished gown with an attached cape is a subtle reminder of our very own Manish Malhotra, who does thigh-high slit-glamour like no other.
Lilly Singh
Our very own bawse, Lilly Singh, is a perfect representation of powerful pant-suits. She owns them like nobody else. We love this feminine-version of a classic suit by Adeam, with baggy-fit and removable skirt (very Lilly-like), that instantly made us have a throwback moment with this white blazer-set by Nikhil Thampi.
Mindy Kaling
The Mindy Project - apparently includes lots of romantic draping. Mindy Kaling in this sunny-yellow Dolce and Gabbana gown has us swooning all over it. Speaking of drapes, Tarun Tahiliani. Need we say more?
Regina King
Now we know why Time magazine has named Regina King one of the most influential people in the world. To ace this pastel pink Versace gown with an attached trail is no joke. We decided to make this look a little flirty with a pink Dolly J gown with feather tassels and a cape, that she can ace effortlessly without a doubt.
