The pictures of Rakul in her black cape outfit have been inundating our social media feed for quite some time now, so, it’s worth everyone’s while to know more about THAT stunning outfit. So here’s us, spilling the deets about everything you wanted to know about Rakul that evening and more importantly, about that headline-stealing costume!
Rakul wore the edgy three-piece-outfit to the launch of Azent Overseas Education. And if you're wondering why a star who's turning heads in the entertainment business seems like a befitting choice for an educational initiative, here's a piece of information that's going to leave everyone baffled. Before she fortuitously stumbled into movies, Rakul studied Mathematics at the Delhi University, and from what we've heard, was brilliant at it, too.
Coming back to the outfit, the stunning pant-and-cape set seen on Rakul is by Anamika Khanna and is actually from Aza’s Bandra store.
It took Anisha Jain, Rakul’s stylist for the event, and our very own in-house stylist 3 days to zero in on it, a task we think was extremely difficult considering that they had to pick one, just one, from an incessant supply of the best, most coveted pieces from the store. “We were looking for a solid colour that would stand out in an evening event, and when we saw the black number, we knew this would look perfect” says Aza’s very own style arbitrator.
Sure, we’ve seen bolder, more experimental iterations of this very same outfit, but for most of us who like keeping our look simple, Rakul’s version of the look is plenty of inspiration.
We love how the makeup was low-key – nude lips and hair done up in a knot – was both fuss free and chic. There wasn’t a heavy-handed approach when it came to accessorizing either. The actor decided to even go sans earrings, a move we’re particularly applauding right now.
Her trend game is pretty en pointe, too. Everybody who is somebody in the fashion industry is waxing poetic about incorporating ruffles into their wardrobe. Rakul did just that and paired it with the season's 'It' trend, chokers.
We loved everything about this outfit and should you want to recreate this look, you have our stamp of approval. Shop the outfit from Aza Bandra before we run out of these!
