After seven months of indulging in their extravagant betrothal, Anant Ambani, the youngest scion of the Ambani family tied the knot with Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical magnates Viren and Shaila Merchant. The ‘lagna vidhi’ ceremony was a culmination of all the festivities that began in January earlier this year.
Friday’s wedding event was preceded by elaborate celebrations for the Sangeet, Mameru, Mehendi, and Haldi ceremonies that featured high society’s who’s who, even hosting a Justin Bieber performance. And of course, it was all done with garbs from Indian fashion’s finest couturiers. Be it the attendees or the wedding family, the room was full of sartorial finesse. From Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s meticulous embroidery to esteemed elegance by Anamika Khanna, there was no better place to be for ethnic fashion enthusiasts.
Anant Ambani & Radhika Merchant’s Wedding Wows
The Jio World Convention Center was the host of extravagance as it welcomed guests from around the world on Saturday, July 12, 2024. The red carpet, witness to Indian fashion's high-octane opulence, would shy even the most glamorous of galas.
The couple of the hour were decked in nothing less than the pinnacle of royalty. The groom, Anant Ambani made his way to the venue in a cavalcade including his Rolls-Royce Cullinan decorated with a veil of flowers. Arriving on the red carpet with the Ambani family, the groom chose to wear a golden sherwani with golden sneakers and then changed into a red, jewel-emblazoned sherwani for the ceremonies.
Styled by Rhea Kapoor, the bride Radhika made a spectacular appearance decked out in a hand-embroidered Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga in red and white. Merchant’s bridal lehenga showcased a long veil embellished with precious stones and a six-foot-long dramatic trail.
For her 'Vidai' ceremony, Radhika wore a red and gold brocade lehenga paired with a real gold karchobi work embellished blouse from ace couturier Manish Malhotra.
