Apart from sheer outfits and Ariana Grande’s Schiaparelli gown, the Academy Awards 2025 was also responsible for spotlighting Indian designers. Rahul Mishra, Gaurav Gupta, Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra took centre stage with their designs on Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities. From Karan Johar to Lisa- from BLACKPINK, it was refreshing to see creations stemming from our tradition blended seamlessly with contemporary flair on the red carpet. With a sense of pride, we have curated a list of Indian designers seen during the Oscars 2025 ceremony, Vanity Fair after party and other events. Take a look:
Mindy Kaling in Rahul Mishra

For the South Asian Oscar event, Mindy Kaling opted for a Rahul Mishra saree gown. A black sequin outfit based on the Jharoka saree concept; it showcased colourful intricate hand embroidery inspired by nature. Featuring Mughal gardens along with peacocks hidden in the flora and fauna, Mishra wrapped up the sari beautifully with sheer floral embroidered pallu.
Lisa in Rahul Mishra
As the first Korean artist to perform at the Academy Awards, Lisa, dazzled the night in a Rahul Mishra couture. She chose to wear No. 26 Gaian Genesis’ black tonal leotard from the designer’s spring couture 2025 collection, named the ‘Pale Blue Dot’. Adorned with floral embroidery along with a sheer slit skirt, the BLACKPINK member made history in this stunning attire.
Guneet Monga in Manish Malhotra
The acclaimed film producer, Guneet Monga showed up at the prestige award ceremony in a Manish Malhotra creation. A handwoven brown tissue saree, it featured a structured corset blouse along with a trench coat. Keeping it trendy by wearing the Pantone colour of the year ‘Mocha Mousse’, Monga kept the look simple with minimalistic uncut diamond earrings, 18k gold bracelets and rings, all from Manish’s own jewellery collection.
Goldie Hawn in Sabyasachi
Red carpets and Sabyasachi accessories go hand in hand. We saw the same at the 2025 Oscars, as American actor Goldie Hawn, paired her gold corset gown with a statement necklace from the iconic designer’s high jewellery collection. With a blend of diamonds, gold stone and emerald green, the luxury add-on elevated the celeb’s gorgeous outfit.
Karan Johar in Gaurav Gupta
At the Vanity Fair Oscar’s after party, Karan Johar opted to glam up in a Gaurav Gupta look. In a black monochromatic suit, elevated with gold-plated wing lapels and delicate chains, the Indian producer/director wore it along a satin shirt and pants to complete the outfit.
Bela Bajaria in Sabyasachi
The chief content officer at Netflix, Bela Bajaria, stunned in a top-to-toe Sabyasachi look. Donning a classic red saree with broad sequin borders, Bajaria accessorized the attire with a statement necklace and earrings from the designer’s high jewellery collection. To finish the look with flair, she added a bindi and classic Sabyasachi gold clutch for some Indian charm.
