A new day calls for a new chapter of Then and Now. In today's segment, we are drawing comparison between two looks of Katrina Kaif in Tarun Tahiliani sarees, which the actress wore to Jab Tak Hai Jaan premiere in 2012 and to an event in 2019.

Let's take a minute and register that it has been about two decades since Katrina first made her industry debut. In these years, she's sure given us a bevy of looks to love, however, we have a soft spot for those which include Tarun (whose label finished 25 years in the business, this year).
Pre-draped sarees are all the rage right now, but, it is commendable that Katrina wore it back when the silhouette was still very fresh and not a lot of celebs had the bravado to wear one. Although, today she wears more subtle hues and breezy sarees and lehengas which are chock-full of floral prints, back in the day, owing to the fact that bling was the biggest trend, the heavily-embellished beige saree was a fitting choice. One may reserve this blinding (and daring) outfit for their own reception, we love how easily Katrina pulls this risque look off.

The bling also seemed to have spilled into her choice of accessories as you can see from the extravagant kamarbandh with that blaring ruby, the OTT bracelet and the shiny earrings. We have a feeling that it was somewhere around this time that she made beachy hair and nude makeup her signature style.

Katrina, who has otherwise resorted to a rather minimal style aesthetic, showed up in an embellished pre-darped aree in 2019. Although the saree still had bling, you can see from her evolved style that she dropped all the unnecessary accroutrements and stuck to just simple earrings and a barely-there cuff. The romantic wavy hair still exists, but who's complaining?
