Kareena Kapoor-Khan recently made her Instagram debut and the world lost its calm, and so did we. Scoring almost 2M followers in little less than two weeks, her debut was truly groundbreaking. Now, we know she's taking it slow and showing us the side of her familial side that we're all keen to see, but, if we could take over her Instagram handle for even a single day, we know what we would fill it with - her many memorable looks that she's curated over the years with her favourite designer (and ours), Manish Malhotra.
After rightfully dominating the Bollywood social circle for more than two decades, we decided to look back at Kareena Kapoor-Khan X Manish Malhotra specials, and believe you me, there are MANY.
2001
You cannot, not talk about Poo from K3G whenever we talk about Kareena's throwbacks. The iconic Bole Chudiyaa and You Are My Soniya looks were designed by Manish back in the day where he started off as a costume designer.
2007
Another one of the cult-classics, Geet, from Jab We Met gave us a lot of fashion inspirations, designed by the mastermind, of course. We were stacking up vibrant patiyalas and phulkari dupattas post this movie.
2008
Post-2006, when Manish Malhotra started his own designer label, Kareena was frequently seen on his ramps. This pink and beige corset-lehenga set was seen at IIFA awards 2008, where he presented his collection at Fashion Extravaganza.
2009
Back when Kareena and Saif admitted that they have been dating, they were often seen together making statements (of course) together. They walked the ramp together for Manish Malhotra at India Couture Week, where Kapoor wore this sequined silver and pink lehenga, embellished with pearls. She later wore this sheer white saree with silver handiwork to Filmfare, 2009.
2010
Kareena chose yet another Manish's saree to wear to IIFA 2010 awards. Sheer net sarees, which are making a comeback in 2020, were in vogue back then which made this embroidered green saree with a red sleeveless blouse a befitting option.
2011
Ball-gown with tiers became a thing post-Lakme Fashion Week 2011, but Kareena made them a trend. Here she is walking the ramp at LFW 2011, and sporting a traditional white anarkali pre-show.
2012
Filmfare Awards 2012 was an event to remember, sartorially, at least. Kareena's sequined beige saree instantly became the talk of the town. She was also seen in signature Manish Malhotra chiffon sarees, which the actor wore to Rohit Shetty's sister's reception party. The highlight of the year, though, was when Manish curated Kareena's wedding trousseau. She wore Sharmila ji's bridal lehenga for her wedding and Manish's pink embroidered gharara for her pre-wedding function. there was also a sequined orange and beige lehenga which she chose for her sangeet, and a blood-red lehenga for her post-wedding celebrations.
2013
2013 witnessed a lot of highlighter hues and citrus colours. We would wear these traffic-stopping sarees to work if Kareena told us to. On the contrary, the traditional saree look here, worn to NDTV Indian of the Year Awards brought our love for white back to the fore. We love how she wore it with just a bindi, some beautiful chandbali earrings, and fragrant mogra in her hair.
2014
We are great admirers of purple. So, when Bebo wore this velvet lilac lehenga to Manish Malhotra's niece, Riddhi Malhotra's reception (yep they're THAT close-knit), we found ourselves bookmarking it rampantly. She also sported the colour on the designer's LFW 2014 ramp wearing a metallic silver and purple lehenga set with a cape.
2015
It wasn't a complete shocker when the duo paired up again for Soha Ali Khan's wedding. Kapoor is seen sporting pastel hues, like the ombre pink net saree for the wedding and powder blue embellished lehenga for the reception.
2016
Even if she's not walking the ramp, Kareena is often seen cheering the designer from the front row. This time, she wore a lilac saree with crystal embellishments.
2017
Heavenly, is how we would describe Kareena in this bridal white lehenga that she wore in Manish Malhotra's fashion show in Kenya. The intricate embroidery on the most daring of a corset blouse is what we are stealing from this look.
2018
Another year and still no dearth of Kareena X Manish looks. She wore a mermaid-esque olive green colour sequin lehenga to Sonam Kapoor's reception (with that plunging neckline) and a satin white saree to an event. Kartik Aaryan paired up with her to walk the ramp for the designer at Summer Couture Week 2018, and little did we know that we'd be seeing a lot more of this pair as well.
2019
Come 2019, and some bold looks as well. The sequin saree, which the designer has christened 'The Bollywood Saree' was first worn by Kareena to Shloka and Akash Ambani's reception. We got some winter-wedding inspirations from this flamboyant silver and black lehenga with statement puff sleeves that she wore to HT Most Stylish Awards.
2020
Kareena and Kartik made a comeback on Manish's ramp yet again at the designer's Blenders Pride Fashion Show. We thought she looked ethereal in silver embellished lehenga. She sported the same hue again at her cousin Armaan Jain's reception, which was undeniably a star-studded event. Read more about it here.
