Lakme Fashion Week – Winter Festive 2017: Five Days of Pure Fashion – Part 2

The city had been gripped with the Lakme Fashion Week fever over the past week with designers setting the runway on fire with their stunning collections. And to add to that, you had the who’s who of Bollywood attending the shows and making some stunning appearances on the ramp. The Lakme fashion week winter/festive 2017 was purely 5 days of kickass fashion statements and trendsetters taking the show to whole new level.

The week kick started with the Gen Next shows and Paramparik karigars displaying their fashion forward designs and was continued by design maestros like Ritu Kumar, Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg and Anavila. The final two days of Lakme Fashion Week 2017 was all about grandeur and opulence with the mélange of traditional and modern elements displayed on the runway. Read on for a quick round up of Day 4 & 5 at Lakme Fashion Week 2017.

Day 4

Mr. Ajay Kumar

The day 4 at LFW 17 began with a burst of colors on the runway by Mr. Ajay Kumar. The designer is loved for his quirky sense of graphic and colors used in his collection. From floral prints and abstracts to geometrics, Mr. Ajay Kumar’s collection saw a range of dresses, shirts, trousers, blazers and trench coats that are fresh and definitely statement making.

Anushree Reddy

Anushree Reddy’s collection at the fashion week was a dreamy vision with hues ranging from peaches to burnt oranges, sunset yellows and gold. The ace designer created a gorgeous collection with outfits for every occasion leading up to a wedding. From her signature floral prints, intricate embellishments and easy wearable silhouettes in rich fabrics like ahimsa silk, organza and organic mal mal gave the lehengas a royal appeal. Rockstar actress Nargis Fakhri walked the ramp for Anushree Reddy in a lemon yellow and pink lehenga set looking drop dead gorgeous.

SVA

SVA by Sonam and Paras Modi is a label known for its elegance expressed through rich colors and designs. Taking inspiration from the landscapes of Kashmir, SVA brought to the runway designs that flaunted the chinar trees, floral vines and birds reminiscent of Naseem Bagh. The beautiful Vaani Kapoor walked as the showstopper for SVA in a deep neck lehenga set with intricate Kashmiri hand embroidered details.

Antar Agni

Antar Agni by Ujjawal’s collection of black and greys also saw some punch of lavender, burgundy, air force blue this season. The style quotient was high with the mens wear kurta and trench coats carrying asymmetrics while the womens wear was all about more stark silhouettes. 

Divyam Mehta

Divyam Mehta’s collection of free flowing silhouettes was inspired by the attires of monks. The loose kurtas and trousers, crushed shirts and dhoti pants for mens wear was complimented by asymmetric layered dresses, draped saris and front tied skirts in womens wear.

Nachiket Barve

Nachiket Barve showcased his bridal collection for the very first time at LFW this year with his designs inspired from the Greco- Roman goddesses. The luxurious capes, lehengas, cholis, cowl pants and gowns were displayed in colors ranging from deep indigo to burgundy, paprika and gold. The beautiful drapes and Greek inspired motifs like gilded wreaths, peacocks, apple blossoms and greek letters were highlights of his range.

Day 5

Arpita Mehta

Arpita Mehta displayed her glamorous collection that held intricate threadwork details, 3D appliques and sequin at the fashion week ramp. Kriti Sanon walked as the showstopper for the designer in a deep blue lehenga set decked with pink floral embroidery details.

Ridhi Mehra

Ridhi Mehra’s collection of outfits for the bride and her entourage was every bit a dream come true for those who like it understated and elegant. Making statement with details like fringes, tassels, beads, scallop prints added the right vibe to her collection. The stunning Malaika Arora Khan walked as the showstopper for Ridhi Mehra in a bright red jumpsuit with sheer detailing.

Amoh by Jade

A beautiful assortment of its signature demure silhouettes and styles is what Amoh by Jade presented on the grand runway at LFW this season. The label, loved for its delicate detailing and fabric choices brought in everything from well-tailored corsets to skirts, floor length sheer capes and dhoti pants decked with feminine details to the ramp. The pretty Nidhhi Agerwal walked as the showstopper for Amoh by Jade while singer Ananya Birla set the right mood with her music for the show.

Sonaakshi Raaj

Sonaakshi Raaj spread her magic on the runway with her collection of evening wear which was a blend of traditional and modern styles on the final day at Lakme Fashion Week. Sonaakshi, known for her popular sari gowns, loves marrying varied silhouettes and cuts which was prominent in her collection of fusioned outfits this year too. From blacks and silver to peaches, seeing the collection unfold was sheer delightful. Pooja Hegde closed the show in a gold embellished jumpsuit with an attached trail.   

Manish Malhotra

The design mastermind ended the week long fashion week with his grand show. Manish Malhotra’s finale was one of the most anticipated shows and it was one star studded event. From the glitz and glamour to the energy and the vibe, he pulled the curtains down with his show that was every bit a dream come true. He displayed his ‘Tales of Indulgence’ collection of mens and womens wear, perfect for evening wear, occasion wear, festive events and cocktail shenanigans. While mens wear was all about velvet blazers, well defined lapels and embellished sleeves, womens wear flaunted feather hems, slit gowns, sheer detailing, crystal work, sequins and zari work. The gorgeous Jacqueline Fernandez and super dapper Aditya Roy Kapoor walked together for the designer and closed the event on a grand scale.
