Keeping up with Virat and Anushka’s Style Game

Screening through numerous IGTVs and bookmarking stylish posts has almost become our primary night-time schedule (thanks, quarantine). Now that we have a modified PM routine that doesn't necessarily include just our skincare regimen, we often find ourselves taking inspiration to upgrade our (and our beau's) wardrobe. Because let's face it, even if WE are nailing outfits that are celebrity/influencer/YouTuber-approved, it's imperative to be outfit-coordinated with your better-half for an amplified effect, especially if you have RSVP'd to events together. And if your man is figuring out is his sartorial standpoint in couple-dressing, you both may want to take a look at Virat and Anushka for notes, who have been acing the game since their courtship days.

Here are our favourite looks ranked in the order of the couple's stylish best moments.

Diwali Bash 2019

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma in Sabyasachi

The cardinal rule of couple dressing? Balance. If one is going pro-detailing or maximalist, the other half ought to justify it by going uber-simple. Take notes from this all-Sabyasachi look, where Anushka is decked head-to-toe in stunning kaleidoscopic hues and Virat is channelling simplicity at it's best with this white kurta set featuring a panel and mandarin collar.

Sports Honours 2019

Anushka in Atsu Sekhose

Since both of them are into simple-yet-impactful outfits, we're in for a surprise when they throw us a curveball every-now-and-then by opting for statement-making styles. Case in point, Anushka aced the faux-feather trend with this halterneck top with draped pants combo by Atsu Sekhose. Virat chose to go the dapper-route with this offbeat maroon suit. Take notes from this unusual combo and go all out with your outfit pair in regards with colours and 3-D elements.

First Diwali Bash post-wedding 2018

Anushka Sharma in Sabyasachi

When Virat and Anushka celebrated their first Diwali together as a wedded couple, Anushka opted for an understated beige saree with no detailing by Sabyasachi, whereas Virat aced the modern kurta set look with this white angrakha piece with an asymmetrical hemline. Just make sure you wear your minimal outfit with statement jewellery, just like a kundan choker here, to avoid looking too drab.

New year's eve 2019

Anushka Sharma in Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna

Both Virat and Anushka brought their A-game along into the new year with this classic tuxedo-slit gown combo. Since both of their personal styles are equal parts understated and sophisticated, the thigh-high slit sequin gown by Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna pairs well with the dapper black suit. We love how Anushka opted for minimal accessorizing and went for just sky-high heels. This right here is one of the classiest Virat-Anushka looks out there.

Karwa Chauth 2019

Anushka in Sabyasachi

If solid colours are your thing, then the pair looks best if your beau is wearing neutrals. Take a look at this stunning pair from their second Karwa Chauth in 2019. Virat's all-black outfit perfectly complements Anushka's printed red saree by Sabyasachi. You too can opt for a solid colour, preferably the much-trending jewel tones like emerald green and purple and style them with kundan chandbaalis.

New year's eve 2018

Anushka Sharma in Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna

Usually, people ace the art of couple dressing by twinning their outfits. Coordinate your looks by opting for similar elements, say, neutral colours. Here, the gorgeous couple is seen celebrating the New Year in Sydney with a bang in this stunning grey slit dress and a semi-formal blazer-pant set. If you're opting for a high dose of sequins (with the extra bit of a flirty thigh-high slit) like Anushka here, find a common ground from sexy and smart by styling your man in a blazer-pant combo.

First Karwa Chauth 2018

Virat and Anushka in Sabyasachi

The newly-wedded couple celebrated their first Karwa Chauth back in 2018 by dressing up in traditional styles from Sabyasachi. Anushka's striped yellow saree inspired us to stack uber-simple ethnic styles that are equal parts regal and comfortable. We love how Virat complemented her by opting for a black and white kurta set, that makes a strong case for less-is-more. Make sure you opt for traditional jewellery, preferably a jhumka-choker set with the sindoor.
