1. What are must have styles for the modern woman? I think modern woman should have something that is classic as opposed to trendy because you should always buy pieces that you can wear for life and font run out when the season does. It has to be something that you can wear time and again and pass on to your children. And it’s really important to have a really nice black dress, slightly edgy that you can wear to a party or a holiday. A nice jacket or a throw on is always advisable because you never know when it’s about to get a little chilly that you can pair over jeans or leggings. Don’t forget statement jewellery that you can wear without thinking and comfortable nude shoes that will be an extended part of your wardrobe. 2. What is your favorite part of your life as a designer? That I get to do what I like and that I don’t have to be answerable. I don’t need to necessarily justify why I make a certain print or why I made a certain silhouette. Its really nice to have a freedom of expression and that’s one thing I really love the fact that I can disconnect, switch off, design and not explain what I made. 3. Can one wear prints to a wedding? How can they incorporate this perennial trend? One can definitely wear prints to a wedding but I am of the belief that it has some gold and silver accent. It has to be something that is classic, sophisticated and quirky but controlled rather than something jarring or over the top. You can always break print with a solid contrasting color but with gold and silver accents. 4. What kind of fusion styles can the mother and sister of the bride wear on the wedding day? The mother and the sister have a lot of work on the wedding so it’s important that they are comfortable but I really like the idea of wearing flared pants, dhoti skirts with tops, anarkalis with skirts instead of leggings. Something that is secure and breathable on the body and not irritable is key on the wedding function while remaining high on comfort at the end. Accessorizing is a great way to spruce up an outfit, whether its maangtikka, headpiece or a choker. 5. A did you know fact that no one knows about you. I love black and white and don’t like color at all. I tried to do a black and white collection once and no one bought. You will always find me in these two colors.

6. Trends you forecast are going to be popular next year. In India as a market as opposed to what will trend globally, I think grey is a huge color that will in this season, the cold and off shoulder trend, classic styles that will last generations and electric blue. Kitten heels will also come back in a big way. 7. The most stylish woman that makes the perfect Masaba muse. Hands down, Sonam Kapoor. 8. Your most memorable moment at Aza. This is where I started my journey as a fashion designer and this is the first store I stocked with when I was just 19 years old, which was seven years ago. I think its one of those stores, when I just finished my runway debut that they asked me for my collection. My most memorable is that they treat every young designer and established designer equally. There’s never a conflict, they always give you attention, equal rack space for your clothes. For me, it’s like coming back home. 9. Emerging designers whose work you admire. I really like Dhruv Kapoor, Ragini Ahuja, Bodice, Nimish Shah from Shift. They are all extremely talented. 10. Tell us more about your latest collection launch today and the inspiration behind it. It’s a mix from the Amazon Fashion Week collection 17 and the festive line did 2 months ago. I felt there was a need for affordable luxury wear and silhouettes that you can wear to a destination wedding in something you can dance, drink and eat all night in and not worry about all the weight you are carrying. I went o about 3 destination weddings this year and everyone is dressed the same. I wanted to bring about change in color and easy silhouettes that got translate to trousseau wear. You can always buy a Sabyasachi as a bridal lehenga but you can also choose a Masaba as one of your trousseau outfits which you can wear for a mehendi, sangeet, cocktail or one of the get-togethers and lunch during the weddings.
