With a strong hold in the fashion fraternity, her label 'Not So Serious' is well known for its eclectic mix of feminine, fuss free and unusual elements. Pallavi Mohan has made it through a long 10 year old journey since she launched her label and has been showcasing fresh and fabulous collections year after year at fashion week. Let's get to know a thing or two about the designer, from her everyday essentials to her wanderlust thrills.
1.The trending silhouette for the season? People are moving away from the over the top bling and into more progressive sophisticated looks with a classic spin. They are teaming up uber chic silhouettes of palazzos with tops or oversized beaded bomber jackets with shorts that are effortless, stylish and comfortable, all at one time. 2. An everyday style that would suit almost anyone. A white shirt with blue denims is a classic winner. A shift dress also manages to suit every body type. 3. Your advice to young aspiring fashion students. Everything looks very glamorous on the outside or resembles a generous slice of cake, but it actually requires an immense amount of hard work and dedication. There is no shorter route to the road of hard work. And lastly, always be honest to what you do. 4. What is your favorite part of your life as a designer? When embroidery turns out to be just how you dreamt or imagine it to be and it starts to take shape, it gives you a satisfaction like no other. Sometimes I wish I could just keep on making them and not sell them. 5. Your take on fashion influencers of present times. Social media has blown our minds away in recent years and has given us instant access to trending topics like food, fashion and travel. The power to influence people and process it wisely is eventually what influences us in our current lives. 6. Five things you must have in your bag? Credit card, medicines, make up kit, pen, wallet, visiting cards. And a passport (just incase I need to go somewhere!). 7. Your favourite holiday destination. I am a constant traveller and I love experiencing a new place each time that carries new memories. I had made a short trip to Israel which I absolutely loved because of its history, culture and young crowd. It was very different from what I had imagined. But if I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be Croatia and Italy. 8. A food item you like to indulge in once in a way. Home-styled crabs from the Ministry of Crab in Sri Lanka and white truffels with egg & pasta from Italy. 9. A did you know fact about yourself? There is a crazy side to me and I can be pretty impulsive at times with a thrill for adventure. I have completed 10 years as a fashion designer and have never had formal training in designing. I had a kidswear line about 5 years ago. 10. If you weren’t a designer, what would you have been? A dreamer or a painter or maybe just someone who travels and is always on the move. previous post
