Decoding the #Virushka Wedding

The much-awaited wedding of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma has taken the internet by storm, and we have no complaints there. We're so happy and secretly blushing too! The duo got married in a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. The wedding was no less than a fairy-tale sequence where the bride and the groom looked lovely submerged in custom-made Sabyasachi ensembles. The bride wore a pale pink lehenga embracing Renaissance embroidery in vintage English colours, embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads. To add to her beauty, her bridal jewellery by Sabyasach Heritage was handcrafted with syndicate uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls, stole our heart instantly!

If you've set your heart on these pretty tones for your wedding day, here's a curate of all things pastels that you could wear.

While the bride looked glorious, the Sabyasachi groom looked handsome as ever  in an ivory raw silk sherwani hand-embroidered in a vintage Benarasi pattern and signature House buttons with an old Rose silk Kota safa.

Counting a day behind to their engagement, Virat looked oh-so-dapper in a three-piece suit while his lady decked up in a signature velvet “gulkand burgundy” sari by Sabyasachi. The lightly embellished drape embraced hand-embroidery with miniature pearls, zardozi and marori. Adding to the glamour quotient, Anushka opted for jewellery by the label and picked an uncut diamond and pearl choker with matching studs to with the sari. She added a perfect Indian touch to her look with a statement bindi, a neat center-parted bun highlighted with red roses.

If your idea of your engagement look is a lot like Anushka's here you go!

Colours are never a bad idea. And while vibrant hues are not minimal, Anushka struck a perfect balance of minimal and happy for her mehendi. She chose a boho look with hot pink as an essential. Keeping that in mind, a graphic lehenga in alternate shades of pink and orange was chosen.  It was hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori. Artists from The Sabyasachi Art Foundation rendered a beautiful sixties pop print and it was silk screen printed, hand woven Indian silk. Anushka wore co-ordinated shoulder-dusters from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery collection.

The very handsome Virat Kohli opted for a signature khadi kurta churidaar with a statement-making classic fuchsia pink textured silk Nehru jacket detailed with the Sabyasachi House blazer buttons

Here's a curate for your upcoming Mehendi ceremony with just the right colour, embroidery and prints!
