Cottagecore: Nurturing Simplicity in a Modern World of Fashion

Being immersed in the idyllic countryside of Cotswold’s or walking through car-free Geithoorn in Netherlands, we are yearning for the simple life. We don’t want to look back into the hustle & bustle of the daily metro life. We want to set up a cabin in the woods without a worry of the real world with cottagecore in mind.

It honestly came to us as a surprise that we can’t just pack our bags & move on a whim to a country-side cottage that is built beside a running stream amongst a bed of flowers. Alas, we need to stay here between the concrete jungle. However, we can and should at least look the part!

Cottagecore Gentle Sway into the Mainstream

At its core, Cottagecore romanticizes rural life, drawing inspiration from the simplicity of country living, natural landscapes, and traditional craftsmanship. Bringing with it serenity that we often lose out on for a long time until we head off on our annual ‘connecting with nature’ vacation.

Racking up the views on follows on your favorite social media, it has become difficult to miss out on it in the real world. Cottagecore is an aesthetic that has been getting a lot of love ever since the pandemic set in.

With our homes becoming our sanctuaries, and then the charm of rural life seeming dearer.

This trend is brought to life with fresh florals, botanical accents, and vintage-inspired clothing. So those pale colored kurtas, and the long-forgotten smock frocks are very in right now!

The rural lifestyle aesthetic celebrates the idea of a slower, more idyllic way of life, often associated with cottages, wildflower meadows, and grandma's weaving & knitting.

When you want to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe, keep in mind what makes cottagecore unique – The easy-breezy vibe. For achieving this , the key elements of Cottagecore style include earthy colors, floral prints, and a deep connection to nature, all harmoniously blended with a touch of nostalgia.

This aesthetic has found its way into various facets of modern life, offering a comforting escape.

Beyond clothes, it's a journey to simpler times; Cottagecore is an ode to nature, and a celebration of authentic living.

The Poetic Palette: Nature’s Hues

Cottagecore, draws inspiration from nature. The earthy charm of pastoral life makes up the palette for it. For Indian ethnic fashion, this translates into dreamy pastels, rustic terracotta, and serene sage greens. These shades, once confined to the countryside, come alive truly in traditional women’s wear, bridging the gap between nature and tradition. We’d look around Charkhee’s beautiful offerings for this!

Floral Poetry: Blossoming

Cottagecore and its romantic fascination with floral motifs is well documented. Think fabrics that bloom with delicate floral patterns reminiscent of garden blooms. It's a harmonious union of two worlds that became the perfect match. No biases, but Paulmi & Harsh has this trend on lock.

Just Like Yesterday: Retrograde

Cottagecore doesn't just look back; it skillfully intertwines nostalgia with modernity. This means breathing new life into classic silhouettes. Victorian-era aesthetics, such as puffed sleeves and ruffled collars, elegantly dance with contemporary cuts are back into the mix. The result? A fresh, captivating look that pays homage to the past while embracing the present, like Ridhi Mehra’s ruffle sarees with soft tones.

Finishing Touches: Flora-tic Accessories

Accessories serve as the brushstrokes to complete the Cottagecore canvas. Think straw hats, woven baskets, and vintage-inspired jewelry. This includes jewellery trinkets from Brashbug that feature delicate leaf-shaped earrings, floral necklaces, and botanical bracelets, all rooting for you!

The world does get overwhelming and cottagecore extends an invitation to slow down and relish life's simpler pleasures. It's a journey that leads us back to nature, back to authenticity, and back to ourselves.

So, whether you're attending a rustic-themed wedding or merely seeking to infuse your daily wardrobe with countryside charm, Cottagecore beckons you.
