Regardless of the size of the guest list, dressing for a wedding is always difficult – especially if you’re a guest. Is it safe to yank out that lehenga you’d worn for your sister’s wedding without giving the bride some sartorial scaries? And what if you turn up looking extremely underdressed because you chose a saree so simple that even a well-seasoned minimalist will frown down upon you? The fact that intimate and low-key weddings are not only a fad but also the need of the hour, there’s not much you can do to avoid the discerning eye of the public who are now going to be extra-keenly examining your clothing choices.
So, what does one do when faced with such an outfit quandary? One will look toward the celebs for inspiration, of course!
In our search for small-wedding-apropos outfits, we stumbled upon Alia Bhatt’s green kurta set from designer Sabyasachi, whose collection we’ve just launched on Aza, and found it to be just perfect.
Sabyasachi Bandhani Printed Kurta Set₹ 74,500
Think about it - it’s bandhani-printed and has intricate handmade embroidery on the hem and the neckline, so it will check your traditional outfit guidelines; the overall silhouette looks comfortable and tad oversized warranting for enough comfort (we especially love the palazzo pants because nothing makes us dislike an outfit more than restricted leg movement), and it has got that monotone-look going on for itself which we can’t stop raving about at this point.
Because the outfit is simple, there’s room for you to accessorize, too. You can stick to the Alia method of sprucing up the look with just a pair of chaandbali earrings, or if you are going for a look that is a tad more festive, then, we suggest wearing the kurta set with a snug choker.
You can also throw in a Sabyasachi signature clutch, embellished with the Bengal Tiger motif for maximum impact.
