9 Fashion Trends in 2024 That Will Redefine Your Wardrobe

With a whirlwind, the last year went by with a resounding imprint on culture. Art and fashion were at their very best, showcasing the changing times with a strong outlook that bested the norms and moved forward. While it may seem too difficult to outdo 23’, we’re prepping ourselves for the coming 12 months with the same vigour. Here are our predictions for 2024 trends that can carve a space in your wardrobe and be synonymous with your style.

With core-fication dictating fashion for all of us (thanks, TikTok), the pace at which we picked up and threw away trends was momentous. Mermaidcore, Cottagecore, and the much loved and adored Barbiecore showcased themselves truly across wardrobes. Interestingly, these ‘cores’ showcased motley styles, exhibiting the varied fashion choices that moved from one extreme to another. This polarization was starkly balanced by the upsurging ‘quiet-luxury’ wave, also thanks to pop culture and Pinterest’s obsession with the old-money aesthetic. We’re pretty sure these styles won’t be phased out but built upon in the coming year.

Runways in Europe and the globe are prepping for the fashion week onslaught, we’re awaiting a fresh palette of styles that will rule the strip in 2024. Sartorially speaking, we’re not hoping for a forced modernism - we’re expecting the same vintage homage in our wardrobes.

1. A Girl's World

The unprecedented success of Margot Robbie-led Barbie made femineity a core focus of 2023, and the hyperfeminine wave cannot be stopped. We’re hoping to see bows, ribbons, flares and more girlish, feminine fashion to reign through 2024.

2. Marvelous Metallics

Who would’ve thought glam is easy when you are covered in metal sheaths? Metallics have been on a steep upward trajectory thanks to Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour and runways embracing the shimmer wholeheartedly. We’re expecting to see more of this glimmer spill into the fashion trends in 2024.

3. Undisputed Red

Unlike other momentary colors, red will retain its status quo of ultimate femme-fatale energy. Not being stuck at the cherry red from 2023, we’re expecting to see a range of red shades have prominence.

4. The Sequin Story

If 2023 has taught us anything, it is embracing the chaos (delulu however, might not always be the solulu). Adding a bit of thrill to everyday fashion, sequins – a partywear necessity, can make its permanence felt in classic silhouettes. Why wait for the party when you can be the party?

5. White Vitality

Quiet Luxury will continue to thrive in a global economic climate that asks for a greater degree of subtlety. What better way to achieve that than pristine whites? Runways have embraced the simplistic fervour of the elegant shade, and we’re sure the confidence-oozing, ease-exemplifying shade will bring peace to life’s chaotic moments.

6. Welcome Back, Jazz.

Ladies and Gents, It’s time to swerve to bebop and relieve the golden 20’s. Jazz is experiencing a resurgence, bringing the vintage style associated with the art back into the spotlight. Flapper outfits seamlessly fit into this mix, and fringes, like sequins, are poised to become a mainstay for the coming year.

7. Color Me Jelly

The 90s nostalgia continues with the jellyfish-inspired aesthetic. The transparent sea creature is a fan-favourite and thanks to their iridescent luminance, they are inspiring outfits that are anything but ordinary. Working upon Mermaidcore’s whimsy, jelly-core (Can we even call it that biologically?) will live to tell a tale of its own.

8. Princess Peach

Approaching mindfulness with a sense of warmth and gentleness, the color peach will be the headliner for fashion trends in 2024. Further confirmed by Pantone’s Peach Fuzz & WSGN’s Apricot Crush, the soft shade is the certified color of the year. Get a headstart and refresh your wardrobe with peach-hued outfits.

9. Sustainability

With fashion, there’s always a strong sentiment regarding its adverse impact on the world. A surge of trends that don’t seem to find an end and accompanying fast fashion has only made it difficult to control our never-ending consumption. However, sustainable clothing will always trend, and it wouldn’t be done better by being mindful of our fashion choices.
