18 Best Looks of FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week

The first joint fashion show hosted by FDCI and Lakmé Fashion Week was a breath of fresh air. There was a slight departure from making quintessential Indian silhouettes the hero this season. Designers looked toward comfort – clearly a byproduct of having spent a year in isolation wearing the softest t-shirts, the roomiest separates, and the most breathable robes – and translated it into collections that were punctuated by clean lines, easy silhouettes, and fun prints. Overall, this season, the clothes that were displayed in various phygital shows were worthy of what we had imagined we would wear after the pandemic ended and things would return to normal, albeit a new one.

There was Anamika Khanna who served us some fierce feminine looks that could be worn today and then again in 30 years from now. Speaking of the future, one cannot eschew Bloni’s collection made from recycled marine plastic waste and tie-dye techniques. There were clothes by designer Arpita Mehta, who put a fusion twist on Indian classics in her collection, Reflections. Too feminine for you? Then, there's just the right amount of boho that's juxtaposed with favourite essentials in Ritu Kumar's designs too.

Here’s a round-up of our favourite looks of the season. Take a look.

Anamika Khanna

The only thing better than a printed skirt? A quilted skirt. Pair it with a crop top and you have yourself a winner.

Arpita Mehta

Printed separates with a va-va-voom, thigh-high slit, and the designer's signature mirror-embroidered jacket.

Bloni

Tie/dye has been rejigged for the future and paired with faux glazed leather that's made from repurposing marine plastic waste.

Chola

Post pandemic going-back-to-work feels are reserved for this layered, monochrome dress.

Geisha Designs

Column dresses accentuated with birds of paradise plumes.

Ritu Kumar

The tribal-inspired multicolor dress is a fit for new-age bohemian adventure. The one shoulder detail puts a touch of skin on display.

Payal Pratap

The best way to incorporate outerwear into your wardrobe is to make sure it is floral for a failsafe pick. Wear it with anything and everything!

Gauri & Nainika

Offset hot summers with this prairie-inspired goodness with ruffled details at the top.

Samant Chauhan

Speaking of prairies, we're stocking on this tulle dress for its autumnal appeal.

House of Masaba

Nothing says boho better than a kaftan dress made better by the signature Masaba print and half-and-half combination to add to its wacky.

Bodice

Clean lines and effortless silhouette are the ultimate luxuries this season and they've come together in this dress from Bodice.

Limerick by Abirr n' Nanki

These outfits are the perfect way to add kitsch to our everyday wardrobes. Plus, they make for a good excuse to reach for those aubergine hues.

House of Masaba

The best way to wear a saree - wear it with a sleeveless blouse and an inconspicuous jacket.

Manish Malhotra

We're totally crushing on this blouse.... or at least, it's barely-there version as seen in Manish Malhotra's designs.

Anamika Khanna

A jacket with fringe detailing is perfect to zhush it up.

Varun Chakkilam

Blue is the warmest colour - even when it comes to traditional Indian lehengas.

Arpita Mehta

A wrap blazer dress that's been embellished with mirrors and fringes to add much-needed excitement to our banal wardrobes.

Ritu Kumar
