If your designs could speak, what would they say?
I believe they would highlight my focus on functionality, elegance, and attention to detail. I'm always open to experimentation, but I ensure that my designs maintain a strong emphasis on practical aspects and aesthetics.
What are the signature elements in your designs?
Practically speaking, I love to experiment with silhouettes, and this passion is evident in nearly all of my designs. Silhouettes are a key element that I continually explore. This exploration of shape and form has become the most visible signature of my work. Each design reflects my dedication to playing with proportions and lines, resulting in pieces that stand out for their distinct profiles. This focus on silhouettes not only defines my creative approach but also ensures that my designs are recognizable and memorable.
Which celebrity or personality do you dream of dressing?
Ranveer Singh,Which collection are you most proud of, and why?
Only a designer knows the significance of their first collection, and "The Knight of the Runway" will always hold a special place in my heart. This collection was my attempt to reimagine a modern knight, using organic fabrics to give the traditional warrior look a contemporary touch. The experience of working on this collection is a cherished memory that continues to inspire me. Additionally, I'm immensely proud of my Naksha collection. Before Naksha, I had never really tried embroidery, and the overwhelming love and positive reception it received were incredibly rewarding.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
There isn't a specific source of inspiration for me; it can come from anywhere. I try to always remain open-minded and receptive to new experiences, which is where my best ideas originate. For instance, cultural influences inspired my “Knight of the Runway” collection, where I reimagined the look of a modern knight. I believe the key to creativity is maintaining an open mind and being willing to explore various experiences. This openness also allows for a continuous flow of inspiration.
Which designer in the world inspires you?
There are many designers I admire, but if I had to name one, it would be JJ Valaya. My journey as a fashion designer has been deeply influenced by his work. His emphasis on exquisite craftsmanship and his ability to fuse tradition with modernity have been a significant source of inspiration for me.
Share a memorable "aha" moment from your design career.
This question tells the story of how I fell in love with shrugs. Initially, I found them boring, but my passion for experimenting with designs led me to try something new with shrugs in my collection, Mrigank. To my surprise, people loved it, and what amazed me even more was that I started liking shrugs too. It was a significant "aha" moment for me.
