If your designs could speak, what would they say?
If our designs could speak, they would say statement but not at the cost of comfort & quality. Every design we create has a story to tell, carefully crafted to ensure you get the best.
What are the signature elements in your designs?
You will see a lot of minimalistic yet statement elements in our designs whether it’s a play of geometric lines, eye-catching embellishments, or simply the material.
Which collection are you most proud of, and why?
Our most recent collection, A Walk in Copacabana, has to be the one because of the range of styles that this collection has as compared to all the others & a very distinctive wave element that's been incorporated across all our designs, inspired by the Copacabana sidewalk.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
Art & architecture spanning geographies has always been a source of inspiration for me whether it was our debut collection or our most recent one. You will always find a fine intersection between clean lines, fluid forms, functionality & minimalism in our designs.
Which designer in the world inspires you?
Christian Louboutin has been the reason the idea of being a footwear designer ever germinated in my head so definitely him & the brand he has created. In recent times, Amina Muaddi & Aquazzura have been the sources of inspiration for how beautifully they create contemporary styles with a distinctive design language.
Share a memorable "aha" moment from your design career.
I think stepping out of my comfort zone to create Devano as a brand was in itself an "aha" moment In my design career. I believe that design is a collection of these "aha" moments because the best designs are created when you least expect them to be.
