Amaara

In the summer of 2022, the founders of Amaara discovered a deep love for the vibrant world of Indian ethnic wear while planning their wedding. They noticed a striking lack of awareness for these admirable crafts among many modern Indians. Having secured top-tier corporate jobs immediately after graduating from IIT Delhi, they spent years living in Europe and traveling the world. Inspired by the deep sense of pride in cultural heritage and efforts to preserve it across various societies, they felt compelled to do something similar for traditional Indian textiles. By the summer of 2023, their passion culminated in the birth of Amaara, a brand dedicated to celebrating and preserving the rich heritage of Indian ethnic wear.

If your designs could speak, what would they say?

Small details make a big difference.

What are the signature elements in your designs?

Balance. It is the ultimate signature element that I aim for. In life & design, being on one of the extremes is easy, but striking the perfect balance is difficult - and that is one's identity.

Which collection are you most proud of, and why?

Banarasi Collection. It marks the beginning of my design journey and will always be a special collection that I'm extremely proud of.

Where do you find inspiration for your designs?

For me it all starts with color, and inspiration for that can come from anywhere - be it nature, art or modern photography.

Which designer in the world inspires you?

I love Valentino Garavani's take on luxury craftsmanship.

Share a memorable "aha" moment from your design career.

I was contently on the hunt for a perfect brand name when I was just starting, and I remember rejecting almost all options during our brainstorming sessions. Then one fine evening when I was out partying with my friends, we came up with Amaara. Derived from the Hindi word amar which means immortal, it perfectly captures my mission of creating designs that tap into the eternal soul of our timeless crafts. Plus it's got a nice ring to it as well!
